Miray Akay was born with the name of "Myroslava Kostyeva Akay" on 17 July 2000 in Ukraine, to a Turkish father and a Ukrainian mother which is why now she has dual nationality.

Akay completed her primary and secondary education in Istanbul. She then studied at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts High School and began acting at the age of three, working in various commercials and music videos.

Miray Akay shared the Best Actress award with Jale Arıkan at the 2014 Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival for her successful performances in the films Halam Geldi and Eve Dönüş: Sarıkamış 1915.
