American actress Judith Light was born to a Jewish family in Trenton, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Pearl Sue, a model, and Sidney Licht, an accountant.
Judith Light graduated from high school in 1966 at St. Mary's Hall–Doane Academy in Burlington, New Jersey. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in drama.
Light has been married to television actor Robert Desiderio since 1985. The couple became bicoastal, she lives primarily in New York City in 2010, and he resides primarily in Southern California. She has a home in Beverly Hills, California, and a home in Aspen, Colorado.
