Joe Mande was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Louis Mande, a lawyer, and Deborah Mande, a judge. He moved to St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of ten and graduated from Central High School in 2001. He attended Emerson College in Boston where he received a BFA in writing.
