Celia Imrie was born on 15 July 1952 in Guildford, Surrey as the fourth of five children of Diana Elizabeth Blois and David Andrew Imrie, a radiologist. Her father was from Glasgow, Scotland. She is the ten-times-great granddaughter of the infamous Frances Carr, Countess of Somerset.
